I have sent Redline Recovery a certified letter stating that the account is and always has been under dispute. They have refused to stop calling me saying that they have forwared the letter to their client and that their client has to tell them to stop. How do I report them to get them to stop calling me?

thanks,
wayne

If they are a 3rd party debt collector they would fall under the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act. There is a sticky at the top of this board explaining your rights.

You have exerted your rights to investigate the amount of debt already. If you want them to stop calling you, send them a letter telling them it is inconveinant to call you and you will communicate with them in writing by mail only. Send it certified return receipt.Save copies of return card and letter for legal proof in case you have to proceed to civil action to stop them.

Since you've already mailed a letter asking that they cease and desist verbal communication, you can report them to the American Collectors Association, the Better Business Bureau, and your state's Attorney General.

When I write a letter to a CA I make it very clear that any verbal communication will not be tolerated. Moreover, after they've received the letter, if verbal communication persists, I keep a record of the date/time they called. I suggest you do the same to offer proof that they are in violation of the fdcpa.

I need to report violations of FDCPA at a company I worked for as a debt collector. I quit last week. I was actually sick for 4-5 days, and I just went in formally and handed in my resignation. I know that the company has been fined before, for FDCPA violations. Even though some of the CEO's frown on these violations, they still continue. I know this for a fact. I am witness to these repetitive violations. But it is like a double edged sword. I can explain it all. I have been doing collections for over 10 years, and this is the most terrible experience I ever had. It almost makes you want to drink. It was a nightmare. Some times were good, and most were bad. I just think that the way they want others to perform their collection tactics, is humiliating. It is almost like defamation of character. It was like the "slop" of debt collecting.
