I received a call from a man named Daniel. He had such a heavy accent, that I could only make out his name and the phone number. It was a long message, requesting that I call back immediately...something about legal action... and I have no idea what else. I couldn't even make out the company he was calling from due to his accent.
Here's the story:
I took out 2 payday loans online back in October, of course with every intention of paying them back quickly. Well, I didn't realize that the $60 bi-weekly payments were ONLY the finance charge and didn't count at all towards paying off my balance. And then I noticed THREE more companies were also taking money on the due dates for the same amount. So, every 2 weeks, $300 was being taken out of my checking account....$600 a month!! This went on from October to a couple of weeks ago, where I went to the bank to see if there was any way to locate a phone number for these companies. Of course, there were no numbers on the drafts for me to call. I couldn't even find the company names on the internet. My banker suggested I close the account and open a new one, so I did. Well, now I have people calling me left and right leaving messages while I am at work for me to call them regarding my loans.
I get this call from "Daniel" yesterday from the above number, and I wonder where he is calling from. It sounds like a collection agency, but I didn;t think collection agencies could take legal action against a person.
I have also gotten a call from Ms. Thomas at Jackson-Phillips, Inc in Florida at phone number (800) 871-7730, which is the number she gave me to call. Every time I call her, she is busy or puts me on hold forever, so I just hang up. Then she leaves messages saying she is very concerned about my "case", and that either my attorney or myself need to call her back ASAP.
I am kinda stuck. I had every intention of paying back my original 2 loans, but the finance charge was insane. Then, the 3 mystery companies start taking out money from my bank account, as well. For all I know, it could have been the same company, just under different names. So, let's see... I borrowed a total of $400, and I have paid back approx. $2100. Something is seriously wrong here, and I feel like I can't do anything at all.

Just called the # and it said, "please leave a message for Micha
Just called the # and it said, "please leave a message for Michael Sinclair." It didn't give the name of company, but Michael's voice had a foreign accent.
