Here's something else to give thought to. I received a letter from Zenith regarding a debt and I responded by sending a DV letter. Within the letter I notified them that their license to collect in my state had expired. I verified that info through my state's department of commerce website. Ensure the CA that contacts you actually has the right to conduct collection activities in your state. If they don't have a license, you can cite them for attempting to collect on a debt that they aren't authorized to collect.

It states collector must mail out letter within 5 days of contact with debtor. A note on validation.If they can't validate,they cannot legally collect on account.
