They can only give out information to the person's spouse. They should send you a dunning or collection notice within five days of initial contact. I would send them a debt validation letter via ceritifed mail with return receipt. Make them prove the validation to you. This is the law and there is a sample letter in the DIY section of the forum.

 Communications with 3rd parties are for location purpose only. They cannot discuss anything with them. All they can do is ask how to contact you. After your location has been confirmed,3rd party contact is no longer authorized. They have 5 days to mail you a letter or they will violate FDCPA again.

I had one company that was calling all my neighbors, and bad part was, I didn't even know my neighbors at the time! One lady ended up coming to my house because she was called like 5 times and was told that it was her "moral obilgation" to provide them with information as to whether or not I was her neighbor or not and to make sure that she got a message to me! This was within the first year of me moving to a new state.
