I have a file with these people, however I am unable to pay the amount due which is 300.00 for checks that were written last year. They drafted my account however the funds were no longer there due to other bills being drafted. I set up a payment arrangement, unfortunately I never heard of this isght prior to it, I was unable to pay the arrangement. They gave me another opportunity however I am still unable to pay due to my husband losing his job!. What can I do at this point. Im scared I am going to go to jail. I'm positive that they will not work with me. Please help!!!

Send them a debt validation letter, especially to ensure they are not attempting to collect more than your state provides for in NSF checks. I have seen multiple posts online where they are attempting to collect more than is actually due. Send a separate letter stating you will only communicate via mail. Use return reciept.

After getting the debt validated from the collection agency, pay an amount that you can afford now. Write a proposal letter explaining your terms and send it with the check. If they cash it, you will know they have accepted your arrangements. Otherwise, there is a proof in writing that you have every intention of paying the debt and pay that is affordable for you. In most cases, they do accept the checks
