WHY NOT JUST PAY YOUR BILLS???
Would that not be easier? It appears to me that most debtors know they owe the money - most have acknowledged that in their posts. Very few of these posts say you don't. Why waste time and money getting validation? PAY YOUR BILLS and you will get no more calls or letters.
It's very simple, debtors. Pay what you owe, just like the rest of us in the world.
Instead of spending time and effort searching for ways to get out of paying - own your poor decisions. You are hurting your creidt, your hurting the US economy - it cost money to collect what is rightfully the Lender's money.
Grow up and be the adults you are!!! Quit spending money you DO NOT earn! The collectors calling you are earning a pay check by calling you.
Think about this.

I got your joke. I thought it was funny.
But on a serious note, have you guys noticed that lately we have been invaded with individuals who are telling us how to save money and ride the bus or that they want to cancel their membership or their credit cards? I wonder how many of these individuals are legitimate (which they may be) or who are one of the many creditors out there trying to tell us that we are being watched (which they may be).
It always feel like somebody's watching me....
You have to bring some comedy to the board sometimes I guess.

I think that they have a script that they use here just like the one that they use on phone calls. They are finding that the people that they are calling are not willing to put up with their bs and becoming versed in the laws as to what a ca is allowed to do and not do on the phone. They come here and if they cannot post spam they start spewing their "pay your bills" tripe. I think that one of the reasons is that we on this forum are becoming stronger. The more people who are in finacial trouble that join and become educated in the laws, and file complaints, the more government involvement and investigation, both on the state level and federal level, into these companies is generated. I sometimes think that we don't realize the impact that we are having.

Kyside, it is important that you carry mace and a stun gun if you are going to hitchhike. I wish Normal Citizen would hand out safety tips to go along with her advice. As a single mother you would think she's be smart enough to learn these simple safety tips.

I know a man who is my daughter in laws father who made great money and paid all his debts ,then one day at work he dropped to the floor it was his heart and his back,he had to have heart surgery and 6 months later have back surgery. He could no longer pay his bills his house payments, his truck loan, his electricity he was on 26 medications and could eventually no longer pay them,he could not work and barely walk and was only 43 years old.Yes he lost his home but a family memeber let him live in nice trailer so he had shelter and lights ,yes he lost his truck but a family member helped him with transpertation. He was taken to court and the judge ruled in his favor so he doesn't pay any of the bills he simply can not pay and the bill collectors still call and still threaten and this has been going on for 7 years now.So it's not all the time that people don't want to pay thier bills ,sometimes bad things happen to good people and they just simple can not pay anymore because they can not work anymore.

Hi Brenda.
You're absolutely right. I'd say 99% of the people on this board had been doing fine until something major caused them not to be able to pay their bills. The man you are speaking of was very fortunate to have his relatives help him out. Unfortunately, not everyone is that lucky and have no choice but to resort to borrowing from these loan sharks called payday loans. Then, before they know it, they're 10 times worse off than they were before. I can relate to being a single mom. I've raised kids on my own for over 30 years and still have minors at home. I never used that as an excuse not to be able to support my children. I have done so just fine. The only problem I ran into was helping one of my older children out when he was living with a girl. She "handled" the bills, so he gave her money for the rent and utilities She ran out on him, and that's when he found out she hadn't paid the rent or the utilities for almost 3 months. He had an eviction notice plus shut-off notices. He also is the custodial parent of his daughter, who at the time was 5. He had given all his money to this girl, and I wasn't going to see him and my granddaughter thrown out through no fault of their own, so I helped him out with what I had and borrowed the rest from the PDL. As other people have said, you shouldn't group everyone together, telling them to pay their bills, because you have no idea what the circumstances were that brought them to this point.

As I stated earlier, these people come on this board spouting garbage are wasting our time and raising our blood pressure. 99.99% of the posts I have read here are people really trying hard to pay their bills when life throws them a curveball. They attempt to pick themselves up and dust off when the next thing you know creditors are inflating bills and collectors are harassing said person. Until creditors can calculate a reasonable program to help address times when life slam you down,we will always have bad debt. I would not hold my breath on that because they make a ton of money on overdue debt.
normal citizen = normal CA
From what I have seen on these forums most people want to pay their debts. However we do not want to be harassed and threatened by bullies over the phone. I wish I found this site earlier, or at least knew about the laws in regards to debts and CA's.
Through my own fault and stupidity I got myself in bad financial problems years ago and was forced to file bankruptcy. Then being bad with money I got myself in trouble again after the bankruptcy. This was about six years ago. I had a very nice and steady job but I was horrible with my finances. My credit rating was horrible and collectors were constantly after me. I wanted to pay my debts but these CA's refused to work out payment plans. Thankfully when I got married three years ago my wife helped me tremendously in paying my debts as she is very good with finances and she was very understanding of my debts and helping me. I got all of my debts paid off with these CA's but unfortunately I probably paid too much in some cases because I did not know all the rules and laws. If I had known I could have paid off my debts and not got ripped off with other charges by these CA's. I also know after the fact now, that I paid for one debt twice with different CA's because once again I knew nothing about debt validation and such.
It took a couple of years to pay my debts and straighten out my credit report and even though I have a bankruptcy and some judgments still on my report me and my wife were able to get a house loan and buy a nice house and a brand new SUV with no problems and our finances are in great shape now. We are saving money and saving money for our 20 month old son for college now. I thank God for my wife because I couldn't have done it without her. My point in all of this is that people want to pay their debts and move on with their lives. However we do not want CA's to threaten and belittle us and act like criminals towards us. Treat me with respect and I will work with you.
Because I found this site I was able to fight back against Allen Lewis & Associates who threatened me with criminal prosecution and called my mom and dad and wife and told them I was in trouble with the law in regards to a payday loan. They refuse to send me a debt validation letter or proof of the debt so I will refuse to pay anything since I do not believe the debt to be valid. After they called me at work three times last week and hung up after I answered and they would not pick up the phone when I called them back since I had caller ID at work I have filed a complaint with the Florida AG's office. I just received affidavits in the mail from the AG's office and will be sending it back to them after I, my wife and parents have filled out their parts. I am not sure what will happen but I will not be threatened or intimidated by these lowlife CA's anymore, especially for debts I do not owe and I have paid off all of my debts. So as far as I am concerned Mr. normalcitizen, aka normalCA you can stick your judgmental attitude and hypocrisy up your you know what.
Sorry for the long rant :P

still haven't seen another comment from Noramcitizen, maybe the truth hurts and is imbarrassed to respond. Well it's best this way anyway since thanks to this forum I have now received 2 refunds from the over charging pdl's.
Thank you DCC
Tired of this whining
Okay, so I admittably work at a bank and we have a collection company as one of our customers, so we receive plenty of calls from irate individuals who've been told by their bank that 'WE' have debited their account. Do I think Payday Loan companies provide a great service to those needing money? No. Is anyone forcing these people to take out loans? No. To hear these people complain is like hearing someone who only eats ice cream complain about getting fat. 'But I have to eat' would be the response, just like, 'I needed the money' is these people's response. The person who gets fat by only eating ice cream is no more a victim than those complaining about these loan companies. Taking out a loan through any web-based loan company is, by all definition of common sense, a bad idea, that will pretty much have bad consequences (as these people should be familiar with because most likely bad ideas led to the bad consequence of being broke). We truly are becoming a 'Nation of Victims' (read the book) and it saddens me that this site seems to enhance their victim status by blaming the loan company without giving the debtor some tough love and telling them, "Hey, don't take out 3 payday loans." I think this site needs to be more honest and place blame where it starts...the debtor.

saveyourmoney - all you have to do is take a look around the site. Any time someone posts and asks what payday lender is best to use, or how to obtain a loan with a payday lender, or if it's wise to use one payday loan to pay off another, you will see plenty of "tough love" - there's a resounding response from members telling the poster to stay far away from payday loans.
Do we blame the companies that lend into states (or entire countries!) where they are not licensed, and advise consumers who have taken loans with them (and overpaid) to fight back? Yes!

Now,
I know who sent me a quick message. I am sure you are probably Normal renanmed. I get lost sometimes trying to keep up with all the collectors in disguise. As Suebee said all you have to do is look around this site and you will see life vs debt. You are correct in one point. It is the debtor's responsibility to pay their legal debts. Nobody here is hiding from paying valid debts. Most of our community members are in troubled tmes. I would ask if you know what that is,but since you are one of the perfect people not gonna waste my typing doing it. Search our board and post with our members. If you can follow our rules, maybe we can learn something from each other. We welcome adversity, not personal attacks.Keep it clean.

Thank you Tweety,
Since they have got me moderating,I have had to tone down my wording to keep my posts clean and legal.
I really get irritated with posters that come here and judge people that they don't know. I can not imagine what rock someone has been hiding under that the facts of life are not understandable. Every person who goes thru life is going to deal with curveballs. Some of these are going to be minor, and some are going to be life changing.
