My daughter recieved 2 e mails from a company that goes by the name of First Universal Lending for a mortgage now I know this is a debt collection board but please if someone out there can tell me if this is for real or just a rip off.
My daughter does not have an income and credit problems so why are they e mailing her.

You know what always gets me? I have crappy credit, yet everybody and their brother sends me cc applications, loan applications, etc. My favorite thing though is what my mom gets---she has a capitol one card and at least once or twice a week gets applications FROM capitol one for an account. I know alot of these are sent from database clearing houses but, geez it sure seems like a BIG waste.

Lorri, I read recently that Capital One has a rather nasty tactic with those credit card applications. Once someone has a card with them, they'll continue to send the cardholder multiple applications for more Capital One cards in hopes that person will apply. Unfortunately, most do and then some will run up their credit limits on more cards until they're several thousand dollars in debt. It makes me sick the way credit card companies prey on people like that.

Don't get me wrong, though. I fully believe in being responsible for debts and paying them, and I know from personal experience that things happen that prevent one from keeping up on bills, but I think some of these companies seek out people they know aren't always 100% responsible with money and target them just to make more money. The greed factor in this country is out of control.
