ever notice when you first start college everyone wants to send you a credit card even when you don't apply for it, well that's how it was with me and my first credit card i waited 2 years before i ever used it and i was working when i started. i paid on my dillards credit card every time i got paid even when my bill wasn't due. dillards even sent me a v.i.p dillards card but everything changed when i got sick. i had a liver transplant and my body started rejecting my liver so i was in the hospital for about 2 months then when i get out the hospital that's when the harassing creditors phone calls started. and i explained that i just got out of the hospital and had no income coming in but he went on telling me that he didn't care and that they will get their money whether i had it or not so i told him that he couldn't get it if i didn't have it and he continued by saying he'll show me better than he could tell me so i hung up. so the next day another creditor dealing with dillards called and i told her that if their people can't call an show respect then they need to leave me the hell alone. so now when they call i just don't answer my phone.

I am sorry for your health trouble. You are in a situiation that many of us have found ourself in. The unfortunate thing is ignoring the debt is not going to make it go away. You may think they need to leave you the hell alone, but they don't see it that way. You have to be prepared to pay them something. Wait until you get the call from signing up here and hopefully they will be able to help you. Good health to you. Welcome to the grown up world.

blinkberry;
Your health should ALWAYS come first. You do NOT have to be prepared to pay them something as Guest states. Obviously they cannot get their money if you don't have it. If you anticipate ongoing health issues, you may want to look into different options for resolving the debt such as consolidation, debt settlement, bankruptcy, etc, but that also requires money.

It is unfortuneate that the banking industry tries to get young adults in debt from the very beginning of their adult lives. Then they try to keep them their until they die.
