I am sorry for your health trouble. You are in a situiation that many of us have found ourself in. The unfortunate thing is ignoring the debt is not going to make it go away. You may think they need to leave you the hell alone, but they don't see it that way. You have to be prepared to pay them something. Your health should ALWAYS come first. You do NOT have to be prepared to pay them something as Guest states. Obviously they cannot get their money if you don't have it. If you anticipate ongoing health issues, you may want to look into different options for resolving the debt such as consolidation, debt settlement, bankruptcy, etc, but that also requires money.
It is unfortuneate that the banking industry tries to get young adults in debt from the very beginning of their adult lives. Then they try to keep them their until they die.
