I didn't make any payments to them, although they tried to get me to. I did offer a lump sum payoff in the letter I sent, but they never acknowledged it. Just trying to make sure I'm not leaving anything out. Thanks

Asking for debt validation does not restart the SOL. It's renewed only when you make a payment or give a commitment to pay the account within the allotted time.
Since your account has already passed from one company to another, make sure that you send your money to the right place. It's not possible for both companies to have your account at the same time. You must get everything in writing and a PIF letter after the account is paid.
If you don????????t agree to the account information given in the letter, write a dispute letter highlighting the incorrect item. They must verify it with the original creditor before attempting further collections.
