They have the wrong number

Two days ago my number was changed to a new unlisted number because when I began my account with my new phone company I requested that my number remain private and they mistakenly listed it. Anyway, I've since found out that my new number is listed under someone elses name and I have already begun recieving collectin calls for this person. The thing about collection agencies is that they insist that you are lieing to them if you tell them that this person never lived with you and they continue to call. Can anyone help me with this?

You only real option is to get the name and address of this company(s) calling and send them a letter informing them that you are not the person they have associated in their records. By law, they are to follow this request.
But yeah - too many debtors attempt to skirt their obligations and creditors have a right to be upset over this. It is really a rock and a hard place.
