my house went in forclosure in 1991..the second was paid off by the new borrowers,,Im getting some bill from some collection company,,asking me to pay like $33,0000 or a good "deal" an just pay half,,,are they not ''breaking'' the statue of limitations law??..Thanks for your concern:..Bruce


CAs will continue to collect until paid. They are not required to stop collections after the debt is past the SOL.

You have to be aware of the SOL laws and notify about the expiry as per the laws in your state.

If you are uncertain about this debt, make them validate the account in writing. They have to follow the fdcpa laws by giving you the correct picture of the account as it stands now.

Have you checked your latest credit copy? This item is too old to be reported in your file. A single payment from you will renew the SOL and it will come back in your credit file.
