800-756-9428 - Has anyone worked with CCB?

I got home and had an individual leave a message from CCB telling me that this message was in regards to a debt collection. My legal first name is William but he kept calling me Bill even though I don't even go by that name in person. I was baffled because I had just recently checked my credit report and all of my accounts were in good standing. The only thing I have is one credit card, which I pay in full every month, and my student loan, which I am almost done paying off and have paid on time.
What's odd also is that I continue to receive bills and credit card statements for an individual who previously resided at my address. I have been at my current address for about 7 months and continue to receive bills and statements for the previous resident. Could they be really going after the person who previously resided at my address?? Because I sure as heck do not owe anything.

When I got a new cell number once there were calls from a collector on my voicemail all the time. I called them up and explained that I wasn't their guy, and they stopped.
Sounds like perhaps the former occupant might have been named Bill, and he's the one they are looking for. I'd certainly call them and explain the situation, as I did.

Actually the former occupant's name was Steve. I'm thinking it might be related because I continue to get statements from Chase and other accounts this individual has....7 months after I've moved into this place. It kind of baffles me why someone would not request to have their address updated with...or even do a change of mailing address with the post office.
And I have also continued to receive phone calls for someone who previously had my phone number. These were not from debt collection agencies, but from individuals looking to speak with the person. Perhaps the individual who previously held the phone number had debt and they are trying to reach them through me as the number is under my name? But I think they were still referring to me....they got my last name correct...it's just that William is my legal name and I do not go by Bill.

I've gone through the address change several times. Still sometimes various things slip through in the process, even a year or more later. As to the phone, information lags more behind than some believe. The information that is now out there probably still has the former occupant's name listed with your number. I have a friend who moved about 9 months ago, and a lookup of her name still shows the number she had at the old address.

I just received a call yesterday from this company. A garbled voice mail message that I could barely understand, but the words "debt collection" were interpretable. While they had my name right, I am not behind on any payments to anyone or any organization. I maintain an exemplary credit record; my credit score is just over 800 and my wife's is just below 800. We maintain a 0$ balance on our credit cards. After receiving the call, I double checked with the car loan, credit card, mortgage, etc. and none of them show any late payments. I believe that they are "fishing", by contacting those with similar names in the hopes that they finally contact the right person who may actually be behind in payments. This is reprehensible behavior, and not the practice of a responsible or honorable company. I believe that a person should pay for legitimate debts, but to be accused over the phone!!?? On a voice mail no less; although they allowed 30 seconds for me to obtain privacy. What a joke. Inexcusable.

I continued to get messages on my voicemail for someone who previously had my number. Many of the calls were sympathy messages. I called the numbers back and told them it was no longer their number. Then I left an outgoing voicemail msgs say that if they were calling for that person...blah...blah...blah. The calls stopped coming within a matter of days.
