Payment Settlement Plan
Date: Fri, 04/06/2007 - 16:08
Viking Collections is after me for a 14 months old Chase cc amount, I wanted to work out monthly payment plan with them over 2 years, but it has been a back and forth efforts, they just keep insisting a lump sum that I can't effort. I am really acting on good faith, but no monthly plan worked out. My only other option is to go with Payment Settlement plan, which I can effort, but with reservation. I've heard that even with a Payment Settlement Plan, the collection company will still move forward with collection action and I just don't want to escalate to a law suit. What would anyone recommend? Honestly, I tried offering monthly settlement with Viking in every conversation.

Try to make a deal with Chase. Viking is only going to offer settlements which are in its own best interest. Viking can't sue you (and they break the law if they say so). The debt would first have to be referred back to Chase, and they would deside on taking action or not.
If you can work out something with Chase, I'd get it in writing.
