hi! My name is Carmen. I'm new to this site and would like to introduce myself. I am a mother of 3 boys, 1 serving in Iraq for our country, the other nearly graduating from high school, and my youngest in 5th grade, who is an honor student. We live with their father, altho we are not married, we manage to work together. Even tho we both work, our income is over $3200 amonth but there are times when when of us either gets ill or job hours decrease. I work for a PCB company and he works for a construction company in Phoenix,AZ. My recent problem I've encountered has brought me to vcredit counselors.
Last October, I had borrowed a payday loan, actually 2 of them, and due to reduction in labor, I got my payback messed up. I was unable to pay them back and couldn't find any numbers for them since I did not receive any email or documents related to the laon. My bank account had 2 deposits of the 3 payday loans. I knew the name of them but had no other info on them. Anyway, last December, I had threatening calls of being arrested, charged with fraud and many others from a Bass & Associates and Bass Enterprises. Later I found out they were the same comapnay and called themselves a law firm. I ended up paing over$1200 for 2 loans that were only $200 each. Stupid me paid them thru money gram..2 months later another collection agency -Westbury called me stating I had not paid the payday loan which was FSM/CMG. I referred them to B&A regarding the account i had paid. Over the past month, I borrowed another loan via internet. This one I couldn't pay back since my bank account was frozen due to fraud (someone chared $50 on my debit card)and ended up closing the account. I called Arrowhead Investment and was told it was sent to Icollect and haven't hear anything from them. The only one called me again was Bass & Associates. Again threatening me to pay over $1200 for 2 outstanding loans. I was told i never learned my lesson and that i am a multiple offender and would face charges, plus be arrested and so on. I only told them tht I don't have the money right now and they demanded I get someone to help me before 5 pm. They wanted debit card numbers. I thought about it and seen this website abd shocked that alot of people had this problem with B &A and sam e payday loan companies. What can I do at this point? The mistake I made the 1st time was I didn't think about it. There is no documentation of this and I don't know if the loan companies have actually received these payments. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thaks, C. williams

Carmen, sorry to hear you've fallen on hard times. Do you have any record of who contacted you? There is some activity in the AZ courts recently in which a debt collector has been prosecuted for unfair collection practices, threats and I believe extortion (Steelers, can you confirm?).

Hopefully Steelers1 will come along and be able to give you more information. It was suggested to me to contact the local police department in regard to the threats.

Defiantly file a compalint with your Attorney generals office as well. This company has been harrassing individuals on and off this site for so long now. Do not let this company get to you, they are very notorious for making crazy arrest threats and so on. Do you have any receipts or records..copies of anything that you have paid this company so far?

Do as Pinklady said, file complaints with your Attorney General's office. And don't listen to their lies of fraud charges and arrest. Don't worry about proving yourself to these thieves. You are done with them. Looks like you paid Bass and Associates, sorry to hear they got to you. But get your complaints in, and consider yourself done with these crooks.

Arrowhead Investment 866-355-7308
If you just confront the debt head on you have better chances of getting settlements based on payments made and alternate ways to pay what is left as owed. If you wait till your account is frozen or closed or having serious problems your bank notifies the company and Arrowhead automatically sells the debt.
