Does LVNV sue past the sol?

Why do they report on my credit report but have resurgent trying to collect this old debt they say is mine?

From my research, this is a well know tactic of LVNV et al. It gets to the point where you don't know who is actually handling the debt (even though all the companies are indeed one). I'd send the letter to all of them. Check your credit report and see what the date of last activity was on this debt. If the SOL has run, let them know.

My husband and I just ran his credit the other day because we are filing bankruptcy and I noticed LVNV has him on there for like $1900. We do not know who they are collecting for because before now I had never heard of them. Guess I will be giving them a call!! He has a judgement of around the same amount from GE Capital that we have been paying $50 a month to Javitch, Rathbone, and Block for so maybe LVNV has it now?? I'm confused!!!

LVNV and it's various companies are debt purchasers. Last I read, they buy a lot of old Sears and Providian debts. I doubt that they purchased the debt you mentioned because to the best of my knowledge, judgments are rarely purchased, and this is all LVNV is interested in. LVNV was formerly Sherman Acquisitions. The name got so bad a reputation I guess they changed it (again).

Be carefull in dealing with LVNV, and their MANY companies. I have been dealing with all of them for over a year. Now Weltman Weinberg, and Reise, attorneys collecting for them, are in the picture. LVNV breaks all sorts of regulations. I would not tlak to them by phone, all you get is rude, nasty people. If you do, keep notes or recored if it it legal. I follow up calls or letters with one of my own, stating the people did this, and said that. I recently got a settlement offer for over 60% of the detb from WW&R, but they won't send a paid settled letter, until later, after I send payment. They will send a settle-for less one. So I am sending them a CC letter stating they things we talked about over the phone, and her saying that the leftover balance will not be sold-even if she wouldn't say that in a letter. It may really pi** them off, but oh well!!..KAren

Sassnlucy, yes, record all of the calls you have with them, for evidence. You wouldn't believe how many times this company is sued. If I were you, I would sue them after a few violations. generally, a case probably won't hold up over one or two violations, but with these guys you'll get plenty.

Bossy, that was wise of you, because indeed WW&R would try to collect the remaining 40%.
