I had a debt posted to my credit report from these people. I was in Oklahoma at the time of the supposed debt. (It was from SBC-thier main offices are in FL). I never once received any final bill (I paid off my account in full when I disconnected and made sure to have them include any early disconect fees in the bill). This Final Bill I had never received, yet they did turn off my phone like I had requested. Now being that I was in Oklahoma is Asset even legally able to try to collect debt that I do not owe? Which states laws would apply in this case? Floridas or Oklahomas?

I would send debt validation letters to both SBC and Asset Acceptance. If you look up this CA, they are known for some practices which are in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Act. Don't pay a dime until the debt is validated!
