Several months ago, I was trying to collect against a man who wouldn't pay his debts, and he was very rude and launched profanity laced rants at me.

Well, recently we got a judgement against him, and now we have cleaned out his bank accounts, taken his car, and garnished his wages. He's whining about not having money to feed his family. I told him maybe he should go volunteer at a food bank.

LMAO

And so are you proud of this? LMAO???? You are a cold person. Put yourself in his place. He probably couldn't pay the full amount and you probably wouldn't consider payments, as many don't, so hey..just clean him out! This is hard for me to understand, why would you laugh at this situation??

Ok i said i was NOT gonna even use my energy to post back on such a negative post but since this seems to have upset lots of my friends here i will... First of all, obviously this person, guest, does NOT know much about judgments and the laws around them... They do NOT take everything u have and leave u on the streets... It's a % only and he's just trying to ruffle feathers here, so best thing is to ignore and move on to helping others.
Also, read my signature line! ;)

I'm DONE with debt and sick of it! My house will be paid for in a couple of short years! As far as cars if i can't pay cash for em then i don't need it... Credit cards will ONLY be used and paid at the end of the month... if we dont' have the $$ for it, obviously we dont' need it that bad... As far as medical they will take what i send per month. PERIOD!
Im done!
Soon as i settle with CACH i will be totally debt free except for my household expenses....
Can't wait,
Ang

LOL kscornell!

Seems I've been in some sort of debt or other my entire adult life. I wish Congress or SOMEONE would crack down on the credit card companies and payday lenders that make it SO easy for a young adult to end up in huge debt. Let's face it - once you're an adult, you get all these credit card offers, once they know you have a job and can possibly pay a credit card bill. Then you get married, have kids, and the medical and other bills start rolling in.

And as far as filing Chapter 13, or any other form of bankruptcy - be careful with that. It's not a quick, easy fix like it used to be. With the new bankruptcy laws enacted a couple of years ago, it's a long, arduous process - especially Chapter 13. Once you're in, it's very difficult to get out....and surviving on what's left of your income after the plan payments can be pretty tough - especially if you don't have a spouse's income to fall back on.

You're right, Ang - I used to work at a college for several years, and I hated the early fall, because when the 5,000+ new students started pouring onto campus, so did the credit card companies, setting up their little booths and tables all over the common areas of the campus, offering trips, coolers, anything free to entice these youngsters into signing up - and NONE of them required the co-signature of a parent...not one...which means quite often these kids, though legally adults at 18, were signing up for credit cards unbeknownst to their parents, who would most likely end up paying the bill to bail their kids out of the mess they end up in!
