What is the best way to pay a CA personal Ck or money order. I was going to open a new checking account to make payments to CA's only. So they would not get a check from my regular account. Would this be a good idea?

If you send it certified, return receipt, you will have proof that they received it. You can also track it if you need to.

What I have done is what vollyball suggested, make a copy of it, anlon with a note that you are sending a money order for xx dollars-try to put the money order at the bottom of the note when you make a copy..KAren

Oh I agree with you. Sometimes though after arguing with them for a while it is just easier to agree to the check. They are expecting a personal check but what they get instead is a cashiers check. They can't say anything, though they try, because I never specified that I would send a personal check.

My hubby did that also once and he gave the CA our household acct number and let them draft automatically monthly for a few months till it was paid off! Luckily it worked out fine but now after reading all these stories i wud NEVER do that!! And maybe it's just me but i seem to see a lot of times when this happens it's from pdl's.... maybe i'm way off base but that's what i have noticed! But these days i don't even pay my credit card with my checking acct... i just get a money order and send it... i dont' trust anyoen with my info anymore after this site! call me paranoid!

I let Asset Acceptance do mine. They were nothing but professional and polite to me the entire time. Gave me a very reasonable settlement on 2 accounts. One was completely off of my credit report and they did not put it back on there and another was still on and they reported it as PAID and did not reage it so that it would stay on there for another 7 years.

I don't recall who it was, it was more then 13 years ago, but they were awful, horrible company. They scared the crap out of me way back when I was a single mother just scraping by...the jerks told me they would have my children taken away by social service, as a matter of fact I did get investigated, someone made anonymous allegations of child abuse. It happened just days after the call where they threatened it so I bet it was them....so I gave them my account info for them to take out payments but they took out the whole thing. I SO wish I knew then what I know now.
