Debt claim not on credit report....!?

Capital Management Collection Notice, LVNV creditor...?
After recently receiving a collections notice from Capt Mgmt for a debt claim from a closed Discover card acct from 2000, I checked my credit report. The report shows no sign of outstanding debt or delinquency.
Do I need to respond to this claim?
Will they stop contacting me at some point?

What state are you in ? If it past your state's SOL you can sim
What state are you in ? If it past your state's SOL you can simply send them an FOAD letter.
If the last payment was in 2000, then it won't be on your report
If the last payment was in 2000, then it won't be on your report, at least not legally since the reporting period is 7 years.
