1099-C for forclosure
Date: Tue, 04/14/2009 - 17:53
Can anyone tell me what it means to receive a 1099-C on a home that has been forclosed on? I am sure it is good right? I had my home (of 11 years) forclosed on (painful memory) and the mortgage company sent me a 1099-C for the forgiven balance on the mortgage. I filed it with my taxes last year. I see that the mortage company is still making (this year) inquiries regularly on my credit report (the ones that are viewed only by you kind).
Why? Is it wrong?

Hi IPoured ,

They will inquire on you very hardly.
Thanks.
