I had internet service through my local phone company. Last year due to financial difficulties I had to cancel it early, which cost me a $200 early disconnect fee. When I talked to the phone company I told them I couldn't pay it all at once, but would pay $20 a month over what my phone bill was to go toward this. They said that was not a problem.

Two weeks later I get a notice from Oxford Management saying the phone comapny turned it over. I did not dispute it, nor did I make any payment to this company. A couple months later I get a letter from West Asset Management. I wrote and told them that I could only pay so much a month and sent a payment. They accepted it and I have been making payments regurlary since to them without any problems.

Today I get a letter from Allied Interstate saying the original creditor turned me over for collections to them, it does not show any current creditor only original. I will be sending them a DV letter.

However, here is where I get confused at. When looking at my credit report this evening, on the one it shows West Asset and under remarks it says account information disputed by consumer. I did not disupte this account information. So should I continue making my payments to West Asset and not worry about Allied Interstate unless I hear from them after sending DV. I have all cancled checks and one money order receipt for the payments I have made up to this point.

Are you suggesting that the two companies are trying to collect on the same debt? if so then i would submit somthing in writing with the second company disputing their right to the debt based on the fact that it is currently placed with another firm. this isnt uncommon. you will need to send something to the second firm from the first showing that they are currently collecting on that same account (showing OC and acct #).

RE: cb info - i dont know the answer to that. sorry...
