I have a collection on my credit bureua that I have sent a DV letter to. In the meantime I pulled a different report and find that on that report they ahve listed the debt as a collection but also with a past due balance. I didn't think they could do that. So my questions are:
1) Since this is a CA, can they list it as both past due (Showing me as delinquent on an account) and a collection?
2) If they can't, how do I get this fixed?

I appreciate your help!

I agree, Soaplady. Yes they can report it as a collection account AND past due...once it is paid, it will show as paid - collection.

If, however, you have DV'd them and they have not responded, then they are not allowed to report to the CRA. If this is the case, then I would send a letter to the CRA with copies of the DV letter (include a copy of the CMRRR green card) stating that they have not validated the account. If the CA continues, hit them with an intent to sue letter.

They can't validate as it isn't my debt, so I am not worried about that. However, they are showing me as 120+ days past due in payment on one of my reports, and I was unaware they could do that as a collection. I thought they could only do that if it was an installment loan or credit card or something like that.
