I have wages garnished through Resurgence Financial. (yeah I know they are horrible). My problem is now that they are doing a wage garnishment, I am unable to afford my rent and have received an eviction notice. I have a newborn child as well and I am stuck on what to do and what my options are. I do not have family or friends that are able to loan me money, and my credit is obviously not good to take out a loan.

Is there anything I can do to not have them take money out of my check or at least have them lower it? The original amount they purchased the debt for was about $2500.00 now the are charging me $4900.00.

Please Help Me...

You need to go to the courthouse and talk with a clerk and explain your situation. There are certain hardships that will pause a garnishment or at least reduce it dramatically if you can not afford to live while be garnished. I would do this ASAP as a hearing with a judge can take a week (or a few weeks) to setup. Just remember to be extremely nice to the clerk and plead for help. Clerks can help you if they want too.....
