i also have to deal with ACC calling me everyday. I dont answer because I have read enough responses to know the nightmare they can be. Im looking to settle my account but im honestly weary. what are my options?

If you can still deal with the original creditor, do that. I think its a waste of time dealing with DCs, since many times, they dont have the rights to collect, and you may find that your original creditor sold it more than once. At one point, I had a least 5 DCs calling on the same debt, because THEY did not do their homework regarding what debt they were actually buying!

You can end up paying one DC, and then, actually shoot yourself in the foot but not getting credit for it, and re-aging the account on your credit report.

If you want to pay honestly, seriously, try to do what you can to negotiate with the original creditor. You may get someone that tells you, "oh, you have to deal with so and so now" but thats not necessarily true, especially if you write a dunning letter to them. The account sometimes goes back to Original creditor anyway.
