johnita, have you tried calling customer service and asking for a supervisor? Explain to them that you have been a good customer up until now, and are asking them to waive the fees. Some companies will do this once a year, and especially if you have always been a good customer.

Also, sometimes if you get behaind, you can call them and see if you can get on their hardship program and stop or lower the interest so you can get it paid.
I had a couple of ones that did this for me, just don't be late on your payment or they will drop you from the program.
Good Luck..karen :D

Ok what does the hardship program do. Will it stop the fees because right now with all they've added it says my MIN payment is over 1,000.00. There is no way possible I could pay that. Would the hardship program at least lower my payment to something that is manageable. I really want to pay them but there is no possible way I can make a min payment of over 1k it's just not possible at all.
Thanks,
Johnita

All it involved was asking them for it. They dropped my interest so I could pay it off. I told them I wanted to pay this off, but because of the fees, couldn't. They set up a reasonable payment plan, and I was sure to pay them first so I could stay on it. I did pay off several cards this way.
I had to call one cc company every day for about a week, until I got someone to work with me,. I did want it paid off, and knew I could with out the interest..karen

Thanks Karen I am absolutely going to try this and keep trying until I can find someone who is willing to work with me. I do want to pay this off but it's absolutely impossible with them adding more then 300.00 in fee's and interest every month. It feels like the more I pay the more fees they come up with to charge. I know if the fees and interst were gone i could easily get this card paid off which is what I want. Thanks again for everyone's help, I'm going to give this a try and I"ll let you guys know how it turns out. I'm hoping I can get someone who will be willing to help me with this.
Thanks again,
Johnita

Were the misc. fees, etc. they added in the contract? If not then this could be a major truth in lending violation, also if they are accessing fees you did not agree to in the contract then you are not bound to them.
I absolutely HATE Chase, I cannot WAIT to cancel the card I have
I absolutely HATE Chase, I cannot WAIT to cancel the card I have with them. Their customer service is terrible, my dislike of them has nothing to do with finances.
the biggest scam artists
I am a banker and I understand that banks need to make money, but chase is ridiculous. They will even tack on fees even when u pay on time and follow all their rules. They started charging me an addional 10$ fee and doubled my min payment. What's irritating is I paid a 3% transaction fee to get the low rate and now b/c of the economy and their screw ups they want to charge us.I have closed both cc's with chase. And I can't wait to close my last one and be done with them, forever. My advice! don't do business with chase!
I have to take back what I said about Chase, I have been dealing
I have to take back what I said about Chase, I have been dealing with someone in their Executive Offices for the past 6 months and she has been absolutely wonderful and has also helped my sister. Sometimes it just takes a GOOD person to change someones opinion on a company. I can admit when I have a change of opinion!
Chase Sucks!!!!!!!!
Instead of fixing a problem i had with my online uid, and all the fees they charged me, they have treated me like an animal, charged late fees, raised interest rate, lowered my credit card limit in attempt to force me to go over my limit so they could charge overdraft fees; they have unleashed your army of rude representatives to harass me days and nights. they???ve even attempted to trick me to pay $5.31 less from the remaining balance ($1,153.31) just so they could settle the account without my consent and report it as settle to the credit bureau???.How Cruel?
they???ve sent me threatening letters; they have reported negative credits on my behalf. This is clearly a form of modern terrorism. This is the kind of behavior that is endangering this country, the attitude that they are the Bank/Creditor, the attitude that they never make mistake and whatever they do is right and if customers don???t comply, they will simply charge them late fees, interest rates, trick them to settle their account without their consents and report negative feedback on their behalf.

i paid off one of my chase cards last month to the tune of $1500. In the process of paying online I didn't put in the right amt for my other chase card and was short $31. It was human error. But because of this error they changed by 7% rate to 29.9%. I've tried talking to two people at Chase and they will not do a thing about it. What should I do

Catching up on payments
I had an Amazon Chase Credit Card with a $4,000 credit limit. Due to unexpected expenses and admittedly foolish spending I maxed it out. I stopped using it a year ago after I maxed it out, and do NOT intend to use it ever again, because I am changing my spending habits to get my debts paid off. It will probably take me years to pay this credit card off but I will keep at it until it's gone.
My "official" minimum payment is currently around $800 per month, and my balance is at $4,500. A customer service rep told me several months ago that if I paid at least $100-110 per month it would cover the monthly interest charge, and anything more than that would go toward whittling down the balance. So I have been trying to pay at least $140-$150 per month for the last several months.
The trouble is that according to my last statement, the interest charges are only $110 per month but they are hitting me with a $39 late fee every month. That wipes out my entire payment and keeps me from making progress on paying it down.
If they would just stop the late fee, it would help me a lot; if they would reduce or cancel the interest it would be even better. I am willing to pay $150 per month, but can't afford any more than that right now.
Can I ask them to drop the late fee or freeze the interest rate? If I enrolled in an official "hardship" program would it help, or would it damage my credit worse that it's probably already been damaged?
Is attempting to transfer the balance to another card (which I absolutely WOULD NOT use to buy anything, I would use it ONLY to get ahead on the payments and make them on time) worth considering at all?

Update July 10th 2009

I was so pissed with this company; I think that it started to affect my mind and soul. If I could fight with this company on a battle ground like David and Goliath, I would.....
One night, I found a link with some of the CEOs email address, I emailed them all and told them this is the way that your company is conducting business and this what their company did to me.
I told them that was sadden how their company handled the situation after doing business with them for more than 10 years, and I kindly asked them since I have paid the account in full would they agree to please delete all negative references to my reports at Experian, Equifax, TransUnion.
In less than 30 minutes I received a call from the Executive office of Mr. Jamie Dimon. I missed the call, but knowing Chase, I didn't expect anything good from them beside more rude staffs or my execution this time. The next day, I received a second call which I also missed. When I returned the call two days later, I was surprised; the lady I spoke to was extremely nice, polite and was willing to help. She reviewed the account and has agreed to furnish the credit-reporting agencies to amend their record to delete the credit profile.
Although I had some luck with the executive office, I can say that I had an awful experience with Chase, their customer service is horrible, they cost me lots of time and money, they say to never say never, but I don???t think I???d do business with Chase anymore.
credit card
I also got over my head in cc debt, so here's what I did....I sent a letter to my cc company telling them I want my card cancelled as of the date of the letter and a statement sent to me with the balance on the account and an amount that I could afford to pay each month on the balance "I" showed due and owing. Along with this letter I sent a check in the amount given. About 2 months later I was sent to collections. I then sent a dv to ths c/a and asked for proof that I owed them and until that proff was given I would continue to pay the oc. Here it is 6 months later and the OC is still cashing my checks each month and I have heard nothing from the CA. I did all of this to stop the hugh fees they were charging and it helped.

if you want to lower your apr, you have to pay your contractual
if you want to lower your apr, you have to pay your contractual minimum for at least 6 months on time by the due date and ask for a lower apr. if you want a lower apr and minimum, you will have to close your card, if oyur stuggling you do not need to get yourself into more debt and be a risky card holder who will not pay. The hardship program basically is done within 5 years, your minimum monthly payment will be anywhere between 1.75-1.85% of the balance this will also lower your apr to 1%-16%, so anything between 1.69-1.74 will make your apr 0%, after 4 payments you will a collection reage making your account no longer delinquent and under the program no more late or overlimit fees. Now if you card goes anything past 60 days it will automatically close, if it is not more than 60 days you cand do the hardship program and close your card.... or!! you can request a collection reage requestion have a colllection reage done to your account by paying on time 3 times and having all overlimits and late fees stopped... those are the programs available to you
