Yes, they are very aggressive with their calls, especially in the beginning. They told me that because my account was a BUSINESS account and not a personal consumer account, The Fair Debt acts & Cease and Desist letter had no meaning and they could do whatever they wanted. And, even though they had my correct contact information and spoke to me on my home phone, they also continuously called my elderly parents, who live in another city and who I haven't lived with in 30 years. My mother got tired of it and told them she was recording THEIR calls, and they stopped. Eventually, the account passes through various offices and collectors within their own company; some are more aggressive than others. Some are nicer, some are just plain strange. After 9 months, I received a summons, but with an alternative settlement at 10%. Needless to say, I took the settlement. I am in a settlement program, but Advanta would not deal with them at all, it had to be done outside the program.

Ah, I wasn't aware! I thought I read some posts awhile back from people that had ordinary consumer accounts. Well, then, I guess they choose who to play by the rules with, by other criteria. If you got them to stop with a C&D, you are luckier than I. At least they stopped calling my poor mother when she got testy with them! lol.
