AFNI and credit report

WTF do they think I am nuts to give them that info. When all they sent me was a photocopy of the last page of my phone bill :x Never sent me anything that told me when and how my last payment was made. I am disputing this because I believe it is past the SOL and they shut my service off and still billed me for 2 months before closing my account. I refuse to pay for 2 months of a phone bill that I couldn't even use. Plus they said that I couldn't close my account till it was paid up to date. I know it's only $200 but still that would be $200 towards something else.
Now about the credit report, Experian and Trans Union says that it is disputed. But Equifax says the date open was 1/1/0001 :?: and that it is at least 120 days or more than 4 payments past due. And that it is a collection account.
What do you all suggest I do about this? I plan on forwarding this info to my state DFI.

That response is BS, it is THEIR job to investigate, not yours. Respond to them and tell them you dispute the entire thing, that it is up to them to provide supporting documentation to prove their claim, not yours.
On the credit reports, it is wrong to have it listed as a past due account because it is NOT past due with the collection agency...it should solely be listed as a collection, nothing more. What you need to do is dispute with the CRAs, and when it comes back verified, then you have afni for verifying an account in dispute and you have more leverage because you could sue them right now for $3000, that is $1000 for each of the three reports they verified on..especially if they verify the wrong information.

With the posts you have made with your funny conversations with CA's can you help me with a letter to send them in response to this letter I got? They will find out soon enough that I am disputing the info on the CR so we don't have to mention that yet. Thank you for you help on this :D

Thank you for your investigation into this matter. As for what I specifically dispute, it is the alleged debt in its entirety. My first letter was a request for debt validation, as such you are required to provide documentation, since you reporting this account to the credit reporting agencies in the first place, I can???t conceive of why you need any type of documentation from me.
I require all supporting documentation to substantiate your claim. Examples may include but is not limited to, a copy of the original agreement and/or contract signed by me, a closing statement with total monies owed, a breakdown of what monies are owed and for what, documentation that proves your right to collect upon this account (such as a transfer or a bill of sale, etc.)
I am sure if you are collecting a legitimate debt then you should have already, or have access to these important documents.
There is no need for you to have a current phone number for me as I have no wish to speak to any of your representatives. All correspondence with me is to be through the United Sates Postal Service.

Anyway my DFI got back to me and she said that the SOL will run out in May. And if I have any problems with them to let her know. I will let you know what they say when they get the letter :wink:

Well Golden they finally responded to the letter you wrote for me. The only thing they sent me was the last page of the phone bill AGAIN. They sent it before. So this time I contacted my DFI because they WILL NOT send me the info I am asking for. So she is going to send out a letter for me. Now we will see what info they send her. What a bunch of nut cases :x I can't wait till they are off my back. Like I have said before, I will pay it IF I know I owe it and I have told the OC that I wasn't going to pay for services that I couldn't use and I am telling AFNI the same thing :x
I will update again when I hear from either them or the DFI.

These guys are horrible. Its TIME TO STOP THEM, NOW! Looks like EVERYONE who holds an office is suing them. They need to be SHUT DOWN!

It is definite BS response..they obviously have nothing. Have you heard yet from the DFI? You know....you have another tactic available to you...look into who regulates the utilities in your state...and send them a complaint. You can't be charged for 2 months of service if said service was shut off. The regulating agencies take this very seriously...if you attack it at the source and get it fixed there, you have just effectively blown the CA completely out of the water.....if there is no bill for those 2 months, then the CA is reporting fraudulent information and hurting your credit worthiness.....suit time!

The DFI hasn't received anything yet. But the letter she wrote to them was pretty good. Because they are using a credit that was posted to the account for the date of last payment. But that credit wasn't a payment made by me, it was a third party credit. I had a service that was billed to my phone bill but it wasn't from the phone company. And when that company found out I couldn't use the service they credited me for 2 months. And she want's to know the date of the last payment made by ME. Lets see if they send her the same darn page of the phone bill lol. She has that already :D I will let you know what I hear as soon as I get it.
