Allied interstate-qwest debt

i have a debt with qwest that appears to have been sent to allied interstate, i recieved a letter from them stating if i pay the debt in 40 days they will not report it on my credit report. i am just wondering if i should pay the debt to them or request a debt validation before paying?

IMO it would be wise to dv the collector before sending any money to them. Allied in known to be notorious and if you search in the site you can read a good deal about their activities.

Also remember to obtain everything in writing from the collector for future references.
