CBCS / Resurgent Capital Services / LVNV Funding

Got a letter last week from CBCS trying to collect on a 12 year old Ameritech debt, So I sent out a debt validation letter the same night. Got a reply today the short version is this:
Client Name: Resurgent Capital Services
Original Creditor: Ameritech
Current Creditor: LVNV Funding
Then it says:
We have investigated your dispute and have taken the following actions:
Stopped Collecting and closed your collection account
Returned the collection account to the creditor listed above and
If we reported the account to the credit repositories we will request the accounts be deleted from your credit report.
My question is whom are they returning the account to?LVNV? and are they tied in with cbcs? I know resurgent and lvnv are tied together. If they are going to play bounce this back and forth can I sue them now and get it over with?
