Amex closed my business account 2 months ago. I'm current on my monthly payments and I make them online. I received a letter from GC Services Limited Partnership that my account was in default and they demanded the account to be paid in full. I called Amex and they wouldn't speak to me. I have my original agreement (yes, I'm a pack rat) and I don't see where they can do this. Has anyone had this same experience?

The debt they listed is my account but I did decide to send them a dv letter. They are showing 2 addresses and 2 phone numbers which makes it confusing to figure out which office is handling the account. I've been receiving phone calls from MO and TX. According to the TX Finance Code they need to be clear which office is collecting.

I also found it interesting that I received a pre-approved offer for their new Plum card. It's my understanding that this card is by invitation only. Do they really think I'm that stupid as to give them my financial information this way or that I would ever want another Amex card?

Yes, Amex did this to me too, and I sent them a letter with proof that all my payments had been made on-time and sent the original agreement, etc. They simply sent me a letter back stating I had not paid per the agreement. The nerve! So I'm settling with them for 35% of my balance. They just saved me about $35,000. I don't care about the ding to my credit report - I'll live on cash for a couple years.
