I live in Arizona and my sister who is not able to work because of a stroke lost her disability income last year which paid her credit cards. One card in particular that was sent to CFG is the only one that was sent to a third party and trying to talk with them is like talking to a wall. She is only on Social Security which covers just her cost of living - food - medications and leaves her with barely any cash at all for the rest of the month. I, her sister, pay for everything else and don't have the funds to help out with her credit card bills. A lawyer last year in Arizona said to either file bankruptcy or just let the calls come. He said don't pay because the state of Arizona cannot take her only income which is SS.
I get so angry when they call because I can't get a word in at all - and my sister because of her stoke cannot get her words out sometimes and it is upsetting to her. Is there anything we can do complain about this company?

It is true that the collection agency won't be able to garnish your sister's social security income. However, your sister should send a debt validation (DV) letter to the collection agency in order to find out whether or not they really own her debt. Unless they validate the debt, your sister is not obligated to pay them in any way. However, if they validate the debt, then it will be better to set up an affordable payment plan with them and pay off the debt.
