I am trying to work with 6 lenders in settling the accounts that I had open. I am in NC. I have already closed my checking account (that is settled and done with), I have sent wage assignment revocations, do not call letters, and settlement offers or requests for PIF's to all of my lenders.

I got a call today from ARM, I think she said, regarding two loans with PayCheckToday and Cash Advance Network. I guess they are a collection agency.

With PayCheckToday, I borrowed a total of $600 and repaid a total of $930 between extensions, principal and reloans.

With Cash Advance Network, I borrowed a total of $300 and repaid a total of $180, meaning that I still owe them $120. I emailed and sent letters via USPS 3 times with no answer.

I was on the phone with the collection girl and I was pulling out my records and asked her to hold one moment. The next thing that I knew, I was on the phone with someone named Don and he started yelling at me. I told him all communication must be through the mail or via email and he said absolutely not. They claim that between the two companines that I still owe them $900. Through all the screaming at me, I told him that I would just file everything through the Better Business Bureau, my attorney if necessary, and the NC Attorney General.

I have to say, he really got to me. I don't know what to do now because I guess they aren't going to work with me. Can someone give me some advice as to what to do next?

Hi Jady,

I dealt with ARM too, in my case they weren't licensed to collect in CT so I was able to get rid of them. If they call again, don't answer the phone, let it go to voicemail, send ARM the same letter that you have sent to the other companies. I would also send a debt validation letter, chances are they can't validate the debt. They will probably send you a copy of your contract which is what they sent me...file the reports with the BBB and attorney general as well. As I said in your other post, this all seems to be part of the process, its very unfortunate that they treat people like this, but it will get better :)

Jady, do what Dawn and Frogpatch are suggesting. I had the same thing. A collection agency sent me 5 letters and what I did was ask for debt verification and never heard back from them. Thats because they were illegal to begin with.

Hey Frogpatch! Long time no see. How are you? I was in New Jersey a few months ago. :D
