I just got a call from 1-866-679-4046 and I just want to know which payday company is using them, so I can send them a letter to not call my job and to validate the debt.

ARM is a collection agency some of the PDL's use. I lucked out with them, they aren't licensed to collect in CT and they were trying to collect on an illegal payday loan. I gave the info to the CT banking commission and they ended up contacting them on my behalf...haven't heard from them since (knock on wood)

I just talked to ARM and he states that they are legal in IL and that Internet Payday Loans supercede any state laws and that their case would hold up in court. I know it was all BS. He also told me that I now need to contact Paycheck Today to handle it directly. I held my ground but they are tough to fight and I got no where.

Have they mailed you their dunning letter yet? They have 5 days from initial contact to send you details of the account in writing. This should also have the mini-miranda stating you have 30 days to dispute the debt. You would need to send them a request for debt validation in response. Was this a storefromnt or internet PDL?

Honestly I don't remember. I'm going with it's an online. All the other payday loans I've had, I've worked with them to pay it off.

Um...I ever don't recall ever getting a letter from them in particular. Is the letter supposed to be from them or the payday loan company?

All the other letters I've got were from the payday company itself and I've taken care of those.

I checked with Florida's Office of Financial Regulation, and found 5 listings for ARM. One address was in NJ, while three were addresses in North Miami Beach, and one was located in Miramar.

So, it seems, depending on what office they are calling you from, they are registered in FL.

Hope this helps, florida.

are they licensed to collect in Utah?
They are calling a business for one of our employees and when I (the manager) called requesting further information all they could tell me is that they are ARM. I asked what it stood for and she said well if you aren't going to identify yourself than I won't either. She asked to speak with a manager and I said I was it! She traced the number that I was calling from and verified the contact of who she was trying to reach. She just said, well just have that person contact me and there won't be any problems.
I told her that there were threatening voice mails on our company mailbox and she said "oh that's not possible, it wasn't a threat unless we say 'call us back within the hour or else.' and I said, that's exactly what was on the voicemail. She argued with me and then said just have your employee contact me and then she hung up.

I got a call from these people yesterday afternoon at my work, I called in this morning to check my messages as I am out of the office at a conference and this is what the message said," ...this message is for ___ you or your legal representitive have exactly 1 hour to contact our office (then somewhat garbled speak - that I've listened to 7+ times and still can't figure it out) followed by...this requires your immediate attention. Call 866-679-4046"

I can't have them contacting me at work...and I have no idea if they are legal in Minnesota or not. Any help would be appreciated. I will wait to contact them until I get some feedback from you all.

I actually looked up the name in Texas. It does not show up on the site that Nascar_Devil posted. HOWEVER, that sneaky company operates under a different name! United Legal Corporation. They come up and they have been cancelled in Texas. I live in the state and after I've sent them TWO c & d letters for a debt that is past the SOL in Texas, they keep calling me. Well the auto-dialed recording does. It calls my work now. I am fed up with the company and as soon as I finish typing this, I'm sending a complaint to the Attorney General

We keep getting this phone call every other day. When it first started I called back. I was told there was no reason for the calls and we would be taken off the phone list. No calls for about two weeks. Now the calls have restarted. No piece of mail has been sent to our home. I do not feel comfortable with calling back. If this was a legit debt wouldn't we receive something in the mail?

This United Cash Loan, and Star Network both have colleciton companies after me. I rcognize the 800 numbers and just do not answer or respond. They sent me dunning letters and said the amount I owed was in the thousands of dollars.
I borrowed $600 and $300 from the two and paid them off just as agreed. They debited my checking account for months until I paid that exhorbitant fee.
So, now they leave messages saying they are going to sue me...and I think to myself...well, get in line, and have at it. Just ignore their calls.
They've called my office a few times and I happened to answer the phone the last time and told them I didn't work there anymore. The spoke to my boss one time before and he came and asked me about it. I told him what they were doing and he said what creeps and that was that.
My advice to all of you....IGNORE. If it's an 800-866-877, or some area code you don't know, most likely it is some of them, and you don't have to take the call.
Good luck with the AG they are about as uneffective as telling my 8 year old grandson.
