Recently recieved a letter and my last payment back from AllianceOne after having been paying them for 2 years. Was a form letter with the box checked by " has been turned over to Arrow Finance", no other explanation. Did Arrow take over AllianceOne? Had noticed that AllianceOne was taking longer and longer to cash my checks, they didn't cash the December payment until the middle of Febuary.
Thanks in advance,
WEO

You can call them to verify. If that's what happened, then the new collection agency is required to send you a letter at which time you can send them a debt validation letter.

This happened to me with one of my credit card accounts. I was paying the collection agency; they sent back my payment because the original creditor called back the account.

Did you have a written agreement with Allianceone? Also did you have them validate the debt? I know that arrow are horrible bottomfeeders so make sure you DV them, make sure they prove up the account. Also watch out, I have seen these guys inflate a debt, make sure you get a complete accounting.

No written agreement with AllianceOne, They originally called me to set up payments for the debt. ( I had cosigned on a loan) I recieved one piece of mail from them prior to the hand off letter. Just dug that letter out and it looks like the original debt was to Arrow Financial, so maybe this is a good thing. Has on that letter that when debt is paid in full it would be returned to their client (Arrow)

Thanks,
WEO

You asked if I had had them validate the debt? Not sure how I was to go about doing that, When they first contacted me I kept asking for proof of who they where, but never recieved an answer I felt good about. They did do a really good job of threatening me, that if I didn't start paying them they would go after my pay check. We talked several times on the phone before I finally let them do a one time withdrawal from my bank acct. after which I recieved a letter (1 of only 2) with instructions as to when and where to send the monthly check. It really felt more like a "shake down" than a debt collection. Was very tempted to blow them off, but they also had started calling my work several times a day to harrass me there and ask questions about me. Felt Like I was caught between a rock and a hard place.

thanks,
WEO

Yes you got scammed. Arrow are NOT the original creditor..they are a collection agency/debt purchaser!!!! Put a stop to it immediately! I hope you have proof of these payments you have made otherwise there is a real good chance they will 'disappear'.

A debt validation letter basically asks a company to prove you owe a debt and by law they HAVE to comply! You should use a strong hand with them because they have abused your rights all over the place. You should never, ever pay anything until they properly validate and you should never enter into a payment arrangement until you have it in writing.

In our DIY section we have templates for letters, but we can also help you craft a specific letter so they know you mean business!
