I received a letter from them offering me a settlement on on 6k debt with "Citibank CC" for $1900 but "I must act before August 31st". Thing is this "debt" isn't even LISTED in my credit report! I have no recollection of it either. Any advice appreciated.

i would send them a DV letter right away.send it certified mail return receipt.

that would be a debt validation letter.once they receive it they must either validate or cease any and all collections.

Ok thanks. What if i ignore them? Wouldn't a "debt" like this show up on my credit report? I see AA didn't a few inquiries in my report earlier this year and twice last year. What's the purpose of those inquiries? Thanks

if they report it after you have sent the DV letter.you hav them on not onlt FDCPA(fair debt collection practices act)violations, but also FCRA(fair credit reporting act)violatons.you see reporting after you sent the letters is considered continued collection activity.
