Need help garnishment questions

I made "arrangements" to pay on a very old debt because they were going to take me to court and I was caring for my sick mother. I signed papers outside the courtroom just to get it over with, even though I originally only awed them about $1200.00, the upped the total to $4400.00 They filed a judgement against me even though I was making payments. This was back in 2004. I was paying regularly & on time. I only owed them about $2,000 when my mother suddenly died in April 2006. Needless to say I was devastated and it took me a year to handle her personal affairs. We lived in Florida at the time. We moved to Georgia Dec. 2007. Because I was so distraught over my mothers death I basically had to pack 2 households to move. Since moving to Georgia I was unable to locate all of the paperwork that I had concerning this debt. I have since received paperwork from another attorney and the judgement has been filed here and now they have started garnishing my income. Out of the $550.00 bi-weekly that I take home to begin with (after taxes, ins, etc) I am now taking home $357.00 every 2 weeks. That is outrageous!! Not to mention I am back up to owing them $4500.00 dollars - yet again. They never contacted me here in Georgia about my payments and I could not find all of my paperwork. I did however go back in my check statements with the bank to see how much I had already paid them. They did finally send a certified return receipt letter and then I received a letter from the court also, but there was nothing in it about a court date to show that I had paid and to explain the situation to a judge. After them already charging me all over again I thought I would have an opportunity to at least speak with a judge about it but that wasn't the case.
So, now that you know where I am at with this....is there anyway in the world that I can send a letter to the judge, the company(Asset Acceptance) and my employer to get back to making the payments I was making. There is no way in the world that anyone can live on $160.00 p/week. Please someone can you guide me regarding this matter? Do I have any recourse??

Unfortunately you signed the documents agreeing to pay....the judgment would have been contingent on you making those payment. No payments and the garnishment goes into affect. It was not their responsiblity to contact you for payments....that responsibility was yours.
