If I receive a faxed settlement letter prior to sending any funds, how safe is it to send AA money to settle a debt through the moneygram service? Moneygram code #1836. How do I know that the money will be applied properly and that they arent going to do something shady? this company has more complaints than any company on earth...hands down.

Sending money to Asset Acceptance after you have received a documented agreement to resolve the debt, and where that document protects your interests, should not be problematic.

Asset may have a ton of complaints, but they collect on 10 tons of debt. Not saying they don't screw up, they do. Just a little perspective.

If you do experience an issue, post what happens in a comment on this thread and lets take it from there.

In the future, if you fund any other settlements, consider paying through certified check issued from the same bank you have your checking account. This will help you obtain evidence of the funds having been sent and cleared more simply and quicker should you ever need to beat somebody over the head with proof the debt is resolved along with the settlement letter.
