Asset Acceptance - Is this a legitamate company?

I have agreed with Asset Acceptance to settle my debt. I received a faxed letter from them confirming the settlement. It does not have an official signature on it, though. Is this a legitamate company and will my debt be cleared if I pay the settlement?

They used to be a legitimate company based in Warren, mi I think? I never agree to anything on the phone always ask for something in writing that you or "your attorney" can look at, I answer every question they asked with "if you would like to send me something in the mail I will be more then happy to show it to my attorney"
