Associates Recovery Systems

They called my wifes cell phone trying to get in touch with me about a Chase CC that was charged off last year. I was recently released from a nursing home after having 2 strokes. Are these people the same as portfolio recovery associates? If they are the same, I sent Portfolio a DV and CD letter several months ago and have never heard back from them. Should they be contacting me without providing the validation? Should they be contacting my wife since I told them to cease calling any of my relatives, neighbors, or friends?

How is this reporting on your credit reports? Does Portfolio own the debt or the original creditor? ARS is a seperate entity from Portfolio but if Portfolio is the owner of the debt, they may be using ARS to collect for them.
