I'm very nervous , my father was served with a summons for a debt by Atlantic Credit however we're being sued by an attorney George L Cohn. The person being sued is my father however the debt is mine i made the purchases. We are in California and last payment was made in 2007.

My concerns are the following how do I answer to the summons?
Do I send a letter or is there a form to fill out?
My father has Diabetes so he cannot be dealing with all these court things is there any way I can appear in court instead of him if necessary?
Is it too late to try to make arrangements with the law firm?

Please help I'm very scared

Hello, I am also being sued by George Cohn. Their representatives have been really unprofessional and hard to deal with. My court date is scheduled on 06/29/2009. What was your outcome. Do you have any suggestions?

Best suggestion? Get an attorney! If you can't afford one, your county court will give you a referral to Legal Aid. Or you can check the National Association of Consumer Advocates to look up a consumer rights attorney in your area. You should also check your Yellow pages.

The following site has a *lot* of info about Civil Court procedure. Please keep in mind that it is for New York and so may vary slightly with your state.
