Letter from attorney's office

Sorry for asking so many questions, but I am trying very hard to educate myself on how to handle the different situations. I am learning that "knowledge" is the power in dealing with this and to all that help - please accept my thanks again and again for all you do!
My next question is when you get a letter from an attorney's office saying they are representing their client (a hospital) in regard to a debt. There is nothing but an amount and when you have tons of medicals from many years, this can be quite confusing.
From what I understand, you don't send a validation of debt letter to an OC, but can you send one to an attorney supposedly representing the OC? And would you ask for the same things like an agreement with them and the OC, giving them permission to collect on the alleged debt? Do you ask for a signed agreement from the OC? And of course it not being a credit card with payments, I know you wouldn't ask for a payment history - but, maybe ask for the original bill for services rendered showing the date of service and any applicable notes that should be with it? And lastly, do the rules of the FDCPA apply to this?
Any information would be greatly appreciated! BTW, this is for Georgia. :D

They should be able supply you with the patient financial responsiblity sheet you signed and a copy of the charges. And yes, the FDCPA applies.
