If you have been sued by a credit card company
will it go away if you filed bankruty

If you file bankruptcy now, any legal proceeding against you will be stopped for the time being due to the automatic stay. It will protect you until you receive a discharge from your debts, or until your creditor obtains a relief from the stay. You can contact a bankruptcy attorney and take his opinion in this matter.

Hi!
Welcome to the forums!

It is true that your creditors can't take legal steps against you when you file bankruptcy. However, it is not a wise move to do so. This is because bankruptcy drops your credit score by around 200 - 250 points. Moreover, it is quite a costly affair. So, if you're sued by a credit card company, you can consult a lawyer to deal with the summons. The lawyer can help you settle the debts out of court. Thereby you can save the legal fees.
