we wrote a couple bad checks to the place where you gamble (for some reason it won't let me post the "c" word) and now them have been sold to certegy. we plan on paying as many of these checks as we can before we file chapter 7 in may. can these be included in the bankruptcy if we can't pay off all of them? or will we be arrested for bad check writing?

As far as I know writing a bad check can bring criminal charges in every state. I see the court documents for these quite a bit in my job and in every state. As swedishgirl said, check with your attorney and try to get this taken care of as soon as possible.

You must check with your state laws first. Someone writing a bad check intentionally and in order to avoid the payments will come under strict legal actions according to the laws.

You need to call Certegy and confirm that they have your file with them. Get the debt validated in writing because they are bound to follow the federal laws. Read the FDCPA for the complete understanding on legal collection practices. Then you need to plan on repayments
