So I was just going through my voicemails and I have one from a Tina Powers from Faulk and Sterns legal dept. On my voicemail she both identifies me and the last 4 of my social. Then says shes calling about bad checks filed in my name in my county. and that if I dont respond i will be served a summons. She closes saying this is Tina Powers and you have been notified.
At first I got preety nervous, because I havent used checks in some 7 years! After a few seconds when I got control of myself and was able to think it hit me. This is obviously a scam, and its highly illegal to leave a voicemail like that even if it was a valid debt. So I googled the name faulk and stearns, all that came up was 2 little things both of which claiming these people are a scam, then a reverse phone look up traces the number 620-860-2213 to Hutchington Kansas.
My question is what should I do about this? Should I take it to a lawyer and try to file suit to give these bloodsuckers what they deserve, or would there be no way to trace these people? Ive had my dealings with my share of bottomfeeding collectors but most of them at least act like they know what the FDCPA is. These people dont even act like it exists, they just make up a debt and shout it out on a voicemail
