You should understand that when you insult debtors you insult yourself, Merriam-Webster defines a debtor as a person who is in debt or under financial obligation to another. If you own your house and pay mortgage, have utilities for your house, pay rent, have a cell phone, have a car payment, have insurance on your car, have a credit card, or any service that you pay for on a regular basis. You are a debtor, if you ask your buddy to spot you 5 bucks until next payday, or if you ask to borrow 50 cents for a pay phone, you are a debtor.

Food for thought.

JCEMT!

That's definitely a good way of putting it; I have never thought of what a "debtor" actually is, myself. That definition certainly encompasses most everyone. I think I shared a story about a friend that was a "Just Pay Your Bills" kind of guy, to other people. When he started getting calls from a CA about a $200.00 co-payment from an emergency room visit he owed, he tried everything he could to get out of paying the bill. He finally payed up when I busted out the "Why don't you just pay your bills?" on him.

So, whenever a "Pay Your Bills" Guest posts negative comments on this forum, I just figure that one day they'll owe a bill the cannot or don't want to pay, then they will probably change their tune.

I have never been downloaded, but it sounds kinda fun.

My take on it is that the people who are here are looking for help to improve their situation; if not, then they would be out spending spending spending and ignoring all collection activities. For those who bash...there is such a thing as karma.

I'm just sayin'.....you never know.

Geez FrogPatch...I thought you turned on us for a second.

Hey JCEMT, I know this is sort of after the fact; however, here goes.

You commented that people cannot be "downloaded"? Um, did you ever see the movie "Tron"?

Pretty spooky.

HAHAHA...it almost makes me wish a debt collector would call me and tell me I am going to be downloaded. My immediate response would be "Like in the movie TRON! AWESOME!!"

There is no problem with having debt. Do you realize that the US monetary system is based on debt? Cash is essentially IOUs. If everyone paid back all their debt, then money would disappear.

I think what most people are "bashing" are those who do not pay their debts back as agreed.

Debt is fine. Not living up to your responsibilities is not.

We advocate that people pay what they owe, I follow that principal as well. Sometimes things happen and you get behind, sometimes accounts get closed. I have collection accounts but I try to pay back what I owe. As long as I am doing what I can to pay my creditors then it has to be good enough.
