I am filing for Chapter 7 next week and I have a an attorney on retainer. So anyways today I get a letter from Bass and Assoc. So I called them, one of them threatened me and didn't believe I had an attorney...I called my attorney on a three way call, during which she said nothing and listened to this idiot threaten me etc.. After about 5 minutes she came on the line and the Bass Assoc. rep started crying, then she apologized and transferred us to an actual ATTORNEY who stuttered around and hung up with the promise I would receive no more contact from them. Anyways, HSBC called my attorney and said that bass and Associates was giving the account back to them because "We don't want to deal with Mr. Edwards he is causing us too much trouble."

Wow, I wasn't aware that HSBC turned their accounts over to Bass for collections. I thought Bass mainly dealt with internet payday loans. Was your account with HSBC for a credit card?
Orchard Bank, maybe?

Come to think of it, I thought Bass & Associates was being sued for their illegal collecting acts?

That's great stuff Aedwards59! Wish I could have been there and listened in on the call, I bet it was entertaining as heck! I wonder, did you happen to record it?

Funny how the CA wasn't crying when she was violating your rights under the fdcpa and thought you weren't savvy enough to know what they were. Her tune sure changed when she realized she had screwed up though, didn't it?

Thanks for sharing that great story!
