Being sued by Citibank according to lawyers

According to some lawyer advertisements, Citibank is suing me. Adkins and Assoc. was the law firm/ debt collector that I was paying the debt to when I stopped because I had fallen on hard times. I sent a fax to Adkins letting them know that I couldn't pay until I could get back to work. I also talked with someone at their office to find out how I still owed. I still owe $6700 +. No one contacted me about trying to work with me or nothing. No warnings were given. Now, I face a lawsuit and the likelihood of having to hire a lawyer I can't afford. What can I do?

If this attorney is suing you on behalf of citibank, there is not much hiring an attorney can do for you. Have you tried negotiating again?
