My husband and I received a letter from Recontrust Co. saying we owe the balance on a home that my husbands mother owns. At one point our names were on the DEED with our mother, but NEVER ON THE LOAN. She walked away from the house. Are we liable to BOA, we didn't take out the loan?

I can't see how, if your names were never on any loan contracts,

I can't see how, if your names were never on any loan contracts, that you could be responsible for paying the balance. Are they offering you the opportunity to pay off the balance and keep the house or are they demanding payment and claiming you are responsible?
