I'll try to condense this because it's a long story. In 2007 Brachfeld attempted to collect a debt. I wrote a letter asking for validation, which they never provided. They continued sending me correspondence and attempted to contact me via voice.

I retained counsel and ultimately we filed suit. We settled the case nearly two years ago and that was that.

Well...

Yesterday I received a letter from Brachfeld attempting to collect the same debt they never validated in the first place. They assigned a different account number to the alleged debt and as all of you are aware, they've since changed their name to Brachfeld Law Group PC.

I'm partly humored by their stupidity, but I'm also angered that they're trying to collect the same debt after everything that transpired.

I'm thinking I'll have to start the whole process over, first by sending a letter asking for validation.

What I'd like to know is if they can attempt to collect the same debt given the circumstances, and is my thinking correct about having to start over with these idiots.

Thanks in advance for your time and replies.
