I recently got a letter from Bridgestone and Assoc in Golden Valley, MN for a debt. I sent them a validation letter and never received a reply. Then the other day i got a summons to court in August for the amount they say I owe. They never replied to my validation letter. Can I do anything? I have confirmation they got the letter, but they never sent a reply. What should I do.. wait until august and show the court my information that they never replied

As Bridgestone and Associates, LLC didn't respond to the DV letter, you can send them a Debt Validation Follow-up Letter to them. Here is a sample follow-up letter you can refer to:
http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/letters/sample7.html

As far as the summon is concerned, a reply to it is very much necessary within the stipulated time. If you don't respond within the specific time frame, which is generally 20 to 30 days, a default judgment could be ruled against you. You can vacate the default judgment later, but it is always better to avoid judgments by filing the response.

In your reply mention that you have not received a reply to your validation letter to Bridgestone and Associate. You can use it as your defence. Also file a 'motion for discovery' to unearth the truth about the debt.

BTW, continuing with the collection activities without responding to the validation letter is a violation of FDCPA. You can actually counter sue the collection agency in the small claims court and collect your $1000 compensation.

If you sent a letter requesting verification of a debt to a debt collector the debt collector must provide you with verification of the debt before they continue to try and collect the debt. You may have a claim against Bridgestone & Associates, LLC for violating the FDCPA.

I hope you sent it certified mail because you need to have proof you sent it. It might help if you have your receipt. Call them and get it, just because to request info, doesn't mean you get out of the debt. I have learned the hard way. I have talked with this Patrick Hayes guy and he wasn't very much help. You need to either fax them or send CERTIFIED MAIL so you have records to show the judge!!! If they dont respond to your certified mail or fax, then sue them and you dont need an attorney to take a third of your money. They would realized they are in clear violation. Heres one, call and try to work something out!!!!

So far Patrick has been a great help to me. I would reccomend you call them for any colleciton harrassment issue. I have had several harrasing phone calls from Bridgestone & Associates for an account I had paid off. I am now working with Marso & Michelson against them and they are working out great!

bridgestone is a great company. The took over my US BANK account. The good this is was us bank never helped me to wanted to work with me. We they called, i was very reluctant to pay cuz i was so frusterated with US BANK. I check out their company and the have a B rating with the Better business bureau. They were so friendly the offered me 30 percent off my debt. Long story short. I owed the 600. Super easy to come up with almost so i could open up a new account. Life is to short to get upset about bill collectors. You made the debt why not pay it. I sleep good at night now. I cant imagine how some people sleep at night. The person who put a post on here telling u to sue them. FOr what, becuase you got mad cuz someone asked you to do the right thing and NOT be a THIEF. You mine as well just go rob a bank. I am posting this because, if this what our county is coming to, then i feel bad if you try to raise kids in the world. wow. have a good day

Patrick is a bloodsucking attorney. He is very unethical and he is being investigated by the mn car association for unethical business practices. He is using peoples desperate need for help and exploiting their needs and making them set up calls to support himself. I understand if a company is blatently harrassing you and breaking the law but this guy forces his clients to go beyond normal and do unethical things. Shame on patrick for capitalizing on peoples misfortune!!!!!

Justin from bridgestone was a jerk hands down. I just had my court hearing on the 25th and things went well. US Banks screwed up my accout and than sold It off to Bridgestone. I tried to tell Justin that it was a mistake and even offered to pay about 1/3 of what they claimed I owed. They demanded half plus court cost so i said see you in court. I talk with one of their lawyers and he at least listened to me and again tried to either have me pay half up right than or set up a payment play for 985 plus court fees. I was already at the courthouse so I said thanks but no thanks I'll take my chances with the judge. When my time came I spoke well, i was dressed well and I presented myself the best that I could. The Judgement was not made that day so I sweat it out over the weekend and checking the mail Monday I found a letter from Hennepin County. In it I found judgement that I found pretty favorable. The courts decided that I owed just $37.50. They lost a bunch of money on me. They didn't even get the court fees back. I think that I am going to head over there with a payment in full... a bag full of pennies and ask that they count it our and give me a note saying that I paid in full.

Your best off paying your debt to these people. I had the same situation in the last month. Mine was for an old US Bank account 7 yrs old when I 20 yrs old and young and stupid.

They have the right to take you to court. They own these accounts that they bought from US Bank in we were all responsible for overdrafting and not paying back. Save the threats from these asshole and 15 calls a day and just pay them. It will save alot of stress. It's better than going to court. If you cant afford the money to pay them back borrow it from someone and save yourself the 21% interest they attach to your principal while your making monthly installments.

Ttt-you got scammed-7 years old account, odds are it was SOL and you didnt owe squat! Its all well and good if you want to pay a debt you legitimately owe but chances are you didnt owe them a dime. Someone else down the road will pop up and say you still owe for this account. Either that or you work for them, not sure which way to go on this one-hmmm, do you work for them or are you just uninformed or you think you know it all. Good day to ya

Way to work for Bridgestone... I just looked at the BBB site and didn't see ANY rating for them whatsoever.

ME personally, I'm not mad about the debt; I made the debt, and of course I have to pay it. MY issue with Bridgestone is that they've been harassing, threatening, and using deception to get me to pay. They continued to call me at work, even after myself and my employer told them not to (which btw, they have to honor). This Todd guy in particular would call my 84 year old grandmothers house, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day, and call her a liar when she said I no longer lived there (I haven't lived there since I was 19). This same guy has also used profanity unprovoked (during our initial conversation, I wasn't working and I told him I could send 25-50 a month. His response?? "Listen here you fuck. You owe me fucking money!") They've even threatened police involvement to collect a judgment (bogus!!). Bridgestone ALSO refused to send me any documentation of the purchase of my debt from USBank or any other paperwork they had proving they bought the debt. It took me 3 months of arguing for them to finally send something. This is where I REALLY started to feel like they were scamming, because the envelope was all handwritten (9 out of 10 companies, even small ones, have custom printed envelopes). What was MORE interesting was the paperwork inside. This "bill" they sent me didn't even have an amount due on it. What. The. Crap. THEN, today my uncle told me I got a letter up at the cabin, made to look like an "official court document," yet it had no signatures, no judgment case number, etc. I talked to Tom, their lawyer, today and told him I could pay a 1/3 of what was owed each pay period starting in January. He refused, threatening Sheriff involvement, even after I had to explain that I had to pay my rent and truck payment so I had a place to live and a way to get to work to actually get everything paid off. He said "Whatever" and hung up on me.

Count the number of things they did illegally in that paragraph and try telling me they're a good company. F bridgestone.

You may want to do some more research on this company. I received a letter of judgement and received threatening calls from this company. check them out on google. I think the information might surprise you. Check them under the BBB (better buisness buero) as well. I think that there not a lagit company. I contacted where my original debt came from and the original company has no recollection of this Bridgestone and Associates LLC..... Just be careful

Hey your not alone. They just sent me a letter that didn't seem for real. It says order for disclosure. The guy called me yesterday from this fake company threatening me saying that if I don't pay that i will go to jail. My stress level has gone through the rouf because of this jerk. This company called my mom in another state. At that time i was visiting her because she had just lost her husband and was severly injured from the motorcycle accident. I answered her cell and chewed them out for harrassing my mom period. This company should be shut down for how far they go to threatening and harrassing people. And i don't believe that there a real company. Never even knew that they sued me until the other day. I broke down and this is seriously taring my family apart. the address doesn't seem right either, PO box. That seems a little fishy. And i can't make out what half the page says because it's faded and theres a big black line going through it. don't know if there for real. If so they sure don't conduct themselves as buisness people. I checked them on the better buisness buerro, there not even accredited. (Not licensed) therefore they have no legality. And if your going to send someone a letter of order or summons doesn't it have to be certified????
